St Nicholas Leisure Centre Baby/Splash Pool closure
Petition has closed and a council responder is preparing a response.

We, the undersigned, demand that Warwick District Council urgently revises its £12m Leisure Centres investment programme in order to ensure that a separate infant learner pool (‘splashpool') is included in the plans for the refurbishment of St Nicholas’ Leisure Centre, Warwick. It is not right that Newbold Comyn, Leamington (which is difficult to access at the best of times) will boast such a facility and that St Nicholas’, Warwick, will not - even though it is currently better placed and more easily accessible via public transport etc, and will be more so for the c. 8,000 new homes being built to the south of Warwick and Leamington.

Warwick District Council is proposing to do away with the baby/splash pool when it refurbishes St Nicholas Leisure Centre in Warwick. This is a valuable facility for babies and toddlers and their families. A baby pool gives an introduction to water, swimming pools and family fun and enjoyment. It's an important start that should remain available to local babies. The recent public consultation did not highlight this 'cut' to the facilities. Over £12million is being spent in the district on the refurbishment of the leisure centres. We are asking the council to reconsider their proposal and now include a proper, modern baby pool in St Nicholas Leisure Centre. Please sign the petition on behalf of babies and toddlers, their families and, of course, for babies yet to be born!
